With decades of experience in Italian art, Stefanini Arte offers curated contemporary and fine-art prints and expert guidance for seasoned and emerging collectors alike.

Stefanini Arte was founded by a group of Italian publishers and art dealers active in the contemporary art sector since 1976. Could you share how this founding vision came about and how it has shaped the gallery’s ethos today?

The founding vision of Stefanini Arte is the result of the convergence of editorial expertise and art-dealing skills developed since 1976. The gallery’s identity has been shaped by this decades-long experience in the Italian contemporary art sector and is founded on rigorous selection, transparency, and the guarantee of authenticity.

Today, these values translate into our role as an accessible and reliable source for collectors seeking a high-level art collecting experience, built on a long and uninterrupted presence in the market.

Your gallery presents a wide and diverse collection, ranging from works of the early 20th century masters to significant post-war and contemporary artists, across mediums such as photography, graphics/editions and unique works. How do you define the curatorial criteria for your collection, and what priorities guide your selections?

Our collection has evolved through meaningful collaborations with leading artists such as Alighiero Boetti, Alex Katz, Sandro Chia, Enzo Cucchi, Mario Giacomelli, Mimmo Paladino, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mimmo Rotella, Salvo, Mario Schifano, Giuseppe Uncini, among others.

Our selection of prints includes more than 500 works published since 1978 by Tipertì in partnership with major Italian printmaking studios, as well as a curated selection of works by the most important artists of the 20th century.

We have always applied a selection approach that ensures not only strong aesthetic quality but also historical relevance and professional integrity. At the same time, we remain attentive to contemporary emerging talents, without ever following temporary or market-driven trends.

In a recent partnership you embraced digital channels (for example via the platform Artsper) to expand reach, demonstrating a multi-channel sales strategy. How has this approach influenced the gallery’s market presence, collector base and the way you engage with art acquisition today?

The integration of digital channels – through leading platforms such as Artsper, Pamono, and our recent collaboration with MutualArt – has been a natural evolution of our strategy. This multi-channel approach has not replaced the physical experience; instead, it has enhanced it, allowing us to overcome geographical boundaries and reach a global audience of new collectors, particularly younger generations.

Its impact has been twofold: it has significantly expanded our visibility and, above all, has transformed the way we interact with our clients. By facilitating the acquisition of original artworks of artistic value, we enable a wide audience of enthusiasts to approach art collecting with clarity, transparency, and full confidence.

Stefanini Arte positions itself as a reference point for both discerning collectors and newcomers to the art world. What services and guidance does the gallery offer to collectors – especially in terms of sourcing, selecting and developing meaningful artworks?

We offer comprehensive support to every type of collector. For those who already have experience, we provide targeted research and sourcing of artworks based on long-standing relationships with archives, artists, and international professionals. For those who are just starting out, we provide a clear and educational pathway that helps them understand the provenance, quality, and meaning of the works. Our goal is to build coherent, well-documented collections designed to stand the test of time in both cultural and market terms.

We also offer appraisals, expert reports, and technical valuation services carried out by Dr. Maurizio Stefanini, Art Expert and Court-Appointed Technical Consultant (CTU) at the Tribunal of Rimini, Italy.

This service provides authoritative certification and professional support for the management and enhancement of the collection.

Given your deep roots and evolving methods, how do you view Stefanini Arte’s role within the contemporary art ecosystem? What distinctive contribution do you believe your gallery makes to artists, to collectors or to the market as a whole?

The distinctive contribution of Stefanini Arte is expressed through the cultural outreach and promotional activities the gallery has carried out for several decades through exhibitions, editorial projects, and initiatives aimed at bringing an increasingly broad audience closer to the world of art.

We are particularly committed to the promotion of original fine-art printmaking techniques, a field with noble and ancient origins that, during the Renaissance, had Italy as the principal center of the European fine-art print market. Among these initiatives, for example, we often collaborate with shop owners and hoteliers who wish to create a “distributed” art collection throughout their premises, thereby adding a meaningful cultural dimension to their hospitality offering.

Our clientele includes both experienced collectors and enthusiasts, united by a distinctive cultural awareness and sensibility, and interested in lasting values rather than passing trends. They appreciate beautiful things and enjoy giving original and meaningful gifts appreciated for their artistic content and value. At Stefanini Arte, they know they can always find high-quality proposals that serve art, collecting, and investment.

What upcoming projects, new directions or collection-developments are you excited about? How do you envisage the gallery evolving in the near future?

We have recently renewed our website, launching a new e-commerce portal dedicated to contemporary art (www.stefaniniarte.it). It is conceived as a Fine Art Store, with an intuitive and accessible interface, a blog featuring recommendations, articles and insights on art, and above all an artistic offering that is unique in Italy for its breadth and quality, with transparent pricing for every budget level.

The public response has been extremely positive, confirming our role as a point of reference for art lovers seeking authentic, well-documented pieces selected with care. This is the guiding principle on which we will continue to build.

We will soon include the works of several important American artists active during the ‘80s and ‘90s, with whom we have collaborated and whose creations we will present in an exhibition in December at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice (Italy).
